Our Research
Many families face significant barriers accessing the educational and healthcare services their children need. Our lab runs two active studies tackling this challenge from different angles: one testing a direct clinic-based intervention, the other following families over time to inform lasting policy change.
Our Projects

Preschool and Me
Our study aims to address this gap by fostering collaboration between healthcare and education sectors to better support preschool-aged children with diverse developmental needs, increasing access to services that promote developmental skills and improve health outcomes. We completed enrollment in October 2025. As of August 2026, we have concluded all three-month assessments (completed January 2025) and six-month assessments (completed April 2025), and are continuing to work with UI Health to build a sustainable program for families who need support.

Pathways for Preschoolers
Through close partnership with families, this study seeks to identify solutions that improve access and ensure all children receive the support they need to thrive. This three-year longitudinal cohort study involves five survey time points (at baseline, 6, 12, 24, and 36 months). Surveys explore families' experiences navigating and obtaining school- and clinic-based services for their children. We concluded recruitment in early July 2026, enrolling a total of 350 families. As of August 2026, we have completed 237 six-month follow-ups and 87 twelve-month follow-ups, and will begin 24-month assessments in April 2027.
